With his broad outlook, Chris Thile creates a distinctly American canon and a new musical aesthetic, giving the listener "one joyous arc, with the linear melody and vertical harmony blurring into a single web of gossamer beauty" (The New York Times). He returns to Meany Center for the Performing Arts with a solo concert inspired by Laysongs — his first truly solo album: just Thile, his voice and mandolin.

The Jazz at Princeton Jazz Festival takes place on Saturday, April 13. In addition to free sets by Darryl Harper (clarinet), Josh Lawrence (trumpet), Yuhan Su (vibraphone), and the Princeton University Faculty Quintet, there is a ticketed concert at 8:00 pm featuring the Creative Large Ensemble, directed by Darcy James Argue, with drummer/composer/MacArthur fellow Dafnis Prieto.
